Salicylic Acid

Salicylic Acid is a plant signalling molecule and hormone that plays a major role in defence against pathogens, particularly those that feed on living plant tissue. It helps activate local defence responses and systemic acquired resistance (SAR), which increases defensive readiness in other parts of the plant after an infection is detected.

Salicylic acid signalling interacts with other defence pathways, especially those regulated by jasmonates, allowing plants to adjust their response to different types of attack.
