Product attribution is blaming a result on the product itself instead of how it was used. In gardening, this often means assuming a fertilizer, spray, or soil mix “didn’t work” when the real issue was timing, coverage, or how much was applied.
Many plant problems look similar, so it is easy to point to the product first. Weak growth, pests sticking around, or leaf damage can come from missed spots, applying at the wrong time, or using too little or too much. Weather and growing conditions can also change how a product performs.
Clear attribution depends on using the product as intended and keeping conditions consistent. Without that, it is difficult to tell whether the product failed or the method did.
