Phytochromes

Phytochromes are light-sensing proteins in plants that help them respond to changes in light and darkness. They detect different types of light, especially red and far-red light, and help control things like when a plant grows taller, when seeds sprout, and when flowering happens. For plant parents, this is why plants react to seasonal light changes or may stretch out in low light. In simple terms, phytochromes act like the plant’s timing system, helping it adjust its growth based on the light it receives.
