Peltate

Peltate describes a leaf in which the petiole attaches to the underside of the leaf blade away from its edge, rather than at the margin. This creates a shield-like structure, with the leaf blade extending around the point of attachment, as seen in plants such as Colocasia and Pilea peperomioides.
