Osmotic pressure is the pressure created when water moves into plant cells because the cell contains more dissolved substances than the surrounding solution.
In plants, this process allows roots to absorb water from the soil. The pressure also helps keep plant cells firm through turgor pressure, supporting the structure of the plant and helping move water from the roots to other parts of the plant.
