Anther

An anther is the pollen-producing part of a flower’s stamen, the male reproductive structure. It is typically located at the tip of a slender stalk called the filament and contains pollen sacs where pollen grains develop.

When the pollen matures, the anther opens to release it for transfer by wind, insects, birds, or other pollinators. If pollen reaches a compatible stigma, fertilization can occur, leading to seed and fruit development.

The size, shape, colour, and method of pollen release vary widely among plant species and are often adapted to their primary method of pollination.
